The Rule That's Wrong

What do you do when a rule isn't fair?

Learn which rules matter and why.

This is for:

Children ages 7 to 12 who are encountering rules that feel unfair — at school, at home, or in their community — and who are learning the difference between rules that are wrong because you don't like them and rules that are wrong because they aren't right. Also for educators who want to build civic reasoning before it becomes purely reactive.

The Name It First Experience

There's a rule. And it doesn't feel right. Maybe it applies to some people and not others. Maybe it was made without considering anyone who looks like you. Maybe it seems like the wrong answer to the wrong question. In The Rule That's Wrong, you navigate what to do with that feeling. Do you break it? Do you challenge it the right way? Do you try to change it? Do you find out you were wrong about the rule? Each path leads somewhere different. This is a story for children who are learning that the relationship between rules and fairness is not the same as the relationship between rules and authority — and that knowing the difference is the beginning of civic life. The output is your Rule That's Wrong Page — what you found out about the rule and what you decided to do.

You can opt into 30-, 60-, and 90-day check-ins from your account. We recommend you do — the point is to see what changed.
