The Platonic Co-Parenting Workbook

A Workbook for Raising Children With Someone You've Never Partnered With — By Design

You chose each other for the parenting. You still need to name what that means.

This is for:

People who are co-parenting intentionally outside of a romantic relationship — close friends who decided to raise a child together, individuals who chose a known donor arrangement, or any two people who have agreed to share parenthood without sharing a partnership.

You'll produce:your Your Co-Parenting Guide

The Name It First Experience

Intentional platonic co-parenting is one of the most deliberately constructed family structures in existence. Two people who are not romantic partners decide together to raise a child. They choose each other. They make an arrangement. And then they discover that the arrangement covers far less than the reality requires. The Platonic Co-Parenting Workbook is a structured process for naming everything the arrangement needs to govern: parenting roles, financial splits, household protocols, decision-making authority, how the child explains the structure to others, and what happens when the arrangement needs to change. The output is The Platonic Parenting Charter: a written document governing the co-parenting arrangement you built by design.

You can opt into 30-, 60-, and 90-day check-ins from your account. We recommend you do — the point is to see what changed.

Sample questions

  1. What does a successful platonic co-parenting partnership look like to you — and what have you and your co-parent already built that works?
  2. What are the agreements your partnership most needs — about decisions, communication, conflict, and the kids' experience of having two homes?
  3. What do you want your children to understand about the family your platonic co-parenting partnership is?

Research basis

Grounded in family systems theory (Bowen) on non-romantic co-parenting structures / emerging research on intentional co-parenting arrangements (Jadva et al., 2012) / contract theory applied to parenting agreements outside romantic partnership.
