It Was Their Idea

You did something wrong together and only you got caught — blame your friend, or tell the full truth?

It was their idea. But you did it too. And now only you're the one standing here.

This is for:

Children ages 6 to 10 who are learning that accountability means owning your part — even when you weren't the only one who did it. Also for caregivers and educators dealing with the universal childhood experience of "I got caught, they didn't."

You'll produce:your Your Story

The Name It First Experience

You both did it. They came up with the idea. You went along. And now they're gone and you're the one standing in front of the grown-up who wants to know what happened. In It Was Their Idea, you choose what you say. Each path leads somewhere different — and some of the paths surprise you. This is a story for children learning that telling the full truth is harder than telling the useful part — and that friendship, consequence, and self-respect all go different directions depending on what you choose. The output is your It Was Their Idea Page — the choice you made and what it meant for you and for the friendship.

You can opt into 30-, 60-, and 90-day check-ins from your account. We recommend you do — the point is to see what changed.

Sample questions

  2. What would YOU do — would you tell the whole truth, just your part, or something else? Why?
  3. What do you think is the difference between saying "it was their idea" and saying "we both did it"?
