The Name It First Experience
You are somebody's future — and this journal starts with who you are right now. I Am Somebody's Future gives Black children ages 8 to 12 a journal for naming their identity, their history, and their sense of what it means to be who they are in the world they are growing up in — in their own words, on their own terms, building the documented self that knows where it comes from and what that means for where it is going. This journal is for the Black child who is navigating pride, history, and identity in a world that will have plenty of words for them — and who needs a place to put their own words first. A Journal for Black Kids Who Are Learning Who They Are starts with the question: who are you — and gives them the page to answer it.
