Heritage Archive: Mexican American Family Stories Pack

Culturally Specific Printable Insert Pages

Your family's roots are older than the border. This is how you write that history down.

This is for:

Mexican American families across generations and immigration histories — including families whose roots predate the U.S.-Mexico border, recent immigrants building something new, second- and third-generation Chicanas and Chicanos navigating identity in between, and families holding histories that span the Mexican Revolution, the Bracero Program, the farmworker movement, and today

The Name It First Experience

Mexican American families carry one of the most layered histories in the United States — Indigenous roots, Spanish colonial history, Mexican national identity, and an American experience that ranges from "we didn't cross the border, the border crossed us" to first-generation immigration within living memory. Across all of it runs a common thread: the ranchos and pueblos of origin, the grandmothers whose recipes and remedios built households, the labor that built the American West, and the identity questions that every generation faces again. This pack gives families structured prompts to document what the elders carry — in Spanish, in English, or both. The output is a documented family archive that honors the full complexity of Mexican American history.
