For Couples After the Affair

Rebuilding or Releasing — The Honest Review

Infidelity breaks something. The question is whether what you are both willing to do can rebuild it.

This is for:

For couples in the aftermath of infidelity — the betrayed partner deciding whether to stay, the unfaithful partner committed to repair, couples with children managing discovery, long-term partners trying to understand what went wrong.

You'll produce:your Your Post-Affair Agreement

The Name It First Experience

Your partner had an affair. You are devastated, furious, or numb — possibly all three. This workbook brings clarity to the after. You will name what happened, examine what caused the affair, assess what rebuild requires, and decide consciously whether to stay or leave. The goal is not to forgive and move on. The output is not a reconciliation plan. It is Your Post-Affair Agreement.

You can opt into 30-, 60-, and 90-day check-ins from your account. We recommend you do — the point is to see what changed.

Sample questions

  1. What is the name for the thing that the affair revealed — not just what happened, but what it made undeniable about where the relationship already was?
  2. What pattern existed before the affair that you have been avoiding looking at directly — the one the affair did not create but made impossible to ignore?
  3. What would the Couples After the Affair Charter say about what you are honestly assessing — whether rebuilding is possible, or whether this is the end?

Research basis

Betrayal trauma frameworks (Vaughan, Marin): infidelity creates specific trauma requiring processing / rushing to 'move on' deepens harm. Attachment theory (Brown, Perel): infidelity reveals attachment ruptures that must be addressed for rebuilding. Couples recovery literature (Heintzelman, Murdock): couples who authentically process infidelity and rebuild do better long-term than those who reconcile through denial. Family systems theory: infidelity usually signals systemic couple issues / addressing only the affair without systemic work prevents real change.
