Workbook

For Congolese Families Abroad

War, Displacement, and the Family That Rebuilt Anyway

We rebuilt from something nobody outside our community fully understands. We named what we built.

This is for:

For Congolese families in the diaspora — from the DRC and Republic of Congo — working through conflict displacement, cultural preservation, and the work of naming what they rebuilt and what they are passing forward.

You'll produce:your Your Congolese Family Record

The Name It First Experience

Your family carries Congo. That means it carries something that has never been fully at peace — a history of extraction, conflict, and displacement that sent millions abroad. Your family rebuilt. It built something in a new country from what survived. This workbook gives your family a structured space to name what Congolese identity means in your household now, what you are carrying on purpose, and what each generation contributes. You inventory your culture. You map displacement patterns. You sign your Congolese Family Record together. The output is not a history lesson. It is a document of who this family is.

You can opt into 30-, 60-, and 90-day check-ins from your account. We recommend you do — the point is to see what changed.

Sample questions

  1. What word describes what your family rebuilt from — and what do you notice about whether that rebuilding has ever been named directly?
  2. When you look at what your family carried out of Congo and what you have built in a new country, what do you notice you most want the next generation to know about where you came from?
  3. What would your family's identity document look like if it named Congolese identity as something that survived — not just what it survived?
